Responsibilities:

The selected individual will assist the TARPS Lab Team Manager in the execution of all aspects of acoustic sensor certification.  Will work as part of a team that processes, analyzes, and reports on acoustic sensor certification data.  Must be able to work on a team and also be an independent self-starter.  Should be able to oversee execution of analysis and report development tasks as directed by the TARPS Lab Team Manager.  The selected individual will:

Acquire underwater acoustic data using state-of-the-art data processing equipment and algorithms in a post processing lab environment.

Perform precise analysis of acquired underwater acoustic data.

Generate concise written technical reports from resulting data analysis.


Qualifications:

Requires minimum 5-8 years experience in US Navy as a submarine sonar technician or similar experience.

  • General knowledge of the physics of underwater sound and acoustic signal processing.
  • An understanding of subjective analysis and acoustic sensor certification methodology.
  • Former U.S. Navy Submarine Sonar Technician, Ocean Systems Technician, Acoustic Intelligence Analyst, or related comparable experience.
  • Experience in the use of MS Office, EXCEL, Adobe Acrobat, and related software packages.
  • General knowledge of WINDOWS 10 and MATLAB system environments.
  • Proven experience in writing concise, detail-oriented technical documents such as certification plans and certification trial reports a plus.
  • Experience in published technical document development and production.
  • Support at-sea data collection and analysis as required.
  • A current Final SECRET level security clearance is required.
