General consultant duties: Provides objective advice, expertise and specialized skills with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth or improving the performance of their clients. May serve in an executive assistant/advisory role to a high level government official in support of large complex programs. Has expertise and operates across one or more industries and variety of services such as business strategy, manpower planning, policy analysis, management controls, information technology, e-business and operations. Primarily concerned with the strategy, structure, management and operations of an organization. Identifies options with recommendations, and/or the implementation of solutions. Projects may be complex, involving multiple products and computer environments. Works as a project leader on medium-sized (site/location), single or multi-effort projects, single or multiple computer environment implementation projects. Designs complex approaches, applications or solutions. Utilizes project management skills of communication, presentation, time management, organization and planning to successfully implement company's products. Manages all project resources to perform tasks according to plan; sets expectations concerning deliverability, performance, maintenance, design and costs. Estimates time frames, quality and quantity of resources required to successfully implement project. Develops single or multiple effort project plans incorporating the project variables. Conducts periodic status checks with customers and team to assess progress against the plan. Performs re-forecasts of project variables as necessary throughout project. Serves as senior-level billable consultant and support specialist when needed. Prepares weekly and monthly status reports on all project activities and issues. Acts as the primary liaison between customers and all company's departments. Discusses and sells consulting services, discusses project planning and issues with customers.
Backups: Monitor daily backups, and request re-submissions as necessary. Maintain command procedure that generates report on missing backups.
Maintain documentation on operational procedures: Apache-Tomcat (76 pages), On-Board Administrator (82 pages), Samba/CIFS (60 pages), OpenVMS System Management (722 pages), Total of 940 pages.
Patches: Download OpenVMS and Layered Product Patches Monthly. Apply patches to four machines on a Quarterly basis. Prepare After Action Reports for each patching session.
Meet auditing requirements: Audit changes to system authorization file and correlate with trouble tickets monthly.
Maintain command procedure to extract authorization file changes. Monitor changes to system generation parameters monthly. Maintain and Monitor Tickler File for Regularly Scheduled Operations Tasks.

Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.
Job Skills Required.
• OpenVMS System Management and Clusters.
• Use of On-Board Administrator for C7000 Enclosure.
• DCL Programming.
• Knowledge of Layered Products.
• Good writing skills.
• Adept at Word, Excel, Paint and Visio (all used in documentation).
