Overview:

Perspecta’s risk decision group is the largest provider of background investigation services for the U.S. government in the federal, intelligence and civilian space.

We are currently seeking candidates for a Reviewer. For this opening candidates may be located in Loveland, CO, Slippery Rock, PA or in other locations may work from home or include a cover letter explaining relocation plans.

Reviewers retrieve federal background investigation cases utilizing Perspecta and NBIB computer reporting systems. Once the Reviewer reviews the case to ensure it is complete and meets contractual and customer requirements, the Reviewer will submit the case to the appropriate customer for final review. Reviewer will communicate with the appropriate staff regarding all case issues. Reviewer will also communicate with the appropriate investigator when a task is deficient and would refer the matter to the appropriate Contractor Liaison or Field Manager if said investigator is uncooperative.

This position follows clearly detailed and specific procedures in completing several repetitive administrative steps performed in a prescribed or slightly varied sequence, depending on the task. Tasks may involve assisting with quality audits and on the job training/mentoring for new employees. Minimal to high degree of subject-matter knowledge is required. This position also requires an individual who can maintain intense focus, attention to detail, and be able to stay organized. A Reviewer requires an in-depth knowledge and familiarity with the terminology of the procedures outlined in the NBIB Investigators Handbook, the PIPs system, Case Management System (CMS), and the incumbent is proficient in the Review process and consistently meets quality expectations. Work is routine and repetitive and follows various standardized operating procedures. The incumbent selects appropriate review methods from a wide variety of procedures and interprets guidance and manuals. Please note: work schedules may include rotating weekend shifts, with weekday hours off.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows standard work instructions to provide guidance on the NBIB handbook, specific contract requirements, and all applications
  • Assists in reworking deficient cases
  • Proficient in using the Internet to research addresses and phone numbers
  • Reviews reports of investigation for federal investigative standards and contract compliance
  • Completes rebuttals on deficient notices in an attempt to get the deficient rating overturned
  • Identifies and tracks common trends for reopens and communicates trends to management
  • Assists in identifying information that needs to be discussed with the customer for clarification
  • Works closely with their Managers to complete cases to the customer’s specifications and timeliness parameters
  • Provides clarification to the appropriate staff concerning deficient notifications
  • Creates and maintains work instruction documents for the Review Department
  • Performs quality audits and provides on the job training and mentoring for other review employees
  • Conducts structured review training classes for new employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED and one to two years progressively responsible administrative work experience
  • New hire orientation
  • Two or more years’ experience reviewing federal background investigations preferred
  • Meets one or both of the following (required):
    • Experience reviewing federal background investigations
    • Current active or in-process federal background investigation or federal securityclearance at the Secret/T4 level or above
  • Experience with PIPS and FWS, CMS and other government operating systems preferred
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Above average internet search skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Ability to maintain an intense focus for a prolonged period of time
  • Strong customer service orientation, particularly with internal customers
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently from supervisor
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, accurate and be exceptional with organization
  • Must be dependable and responsible
  • U.S. citizenship (required for federal security clearance)

The selected candidate for this position must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated government background investigation.This background investigation requires U.S. citizenship and will include an investigation of 10+ years of history including financial, education, employment, medical, residence, and personal records.The cost of this investigation will be paid by Perspecta.
